The town is well-known for its cliffs carved by the sea and the curious rock forms of Les Trois Portes and L'Aiguille, which tourists like to visit while walking through the beautiful countryside.

The town also has an 11th century church, a very traditional covered market, a renowned museum, a long promenade overlooking the sea and impressive cliffs and an amazing 19th century heritage of grand eccentric villas and mock-château mansions.

If you like sports you will find an 18-hole golf course, plus a nearby horse-riding stables where you can jump on a horse and head out to explore the surrounding countryside. There is a sailing club which offers use of its equipment and a sailing school where you can discover the fun of navigating in Etretat's bay using a wide variety of crafts : Catamaran, paddle boat, wind surfer...

The town also hosts the exciting and very popular Normandy festival.

You can pootle along the many little roads in the region and explore the scenic coastline, down from the picturesque town of Varengeville and the pretty Veules-les-Roses, to Fécamp, a bigger, historic town walled-in by breath-taking cliffs. Here there is a thriving harbour, an excellent Saturday market and the town is famous for being the home of Bénédictine liqueur - don't miss a tour of the distillerie.

Along the coast lies Yport - a traditional seaside resort, set between Etretat and Fecamp. Yport is a lovely little town with several shops, the obligatory casino, and a very nice choice of hotels and restaurants on the beach front. The town is located in an alcove, with massive cliffs on both sides, and the view is quite delightful.
